Tuning into God’s voice: Prepared for good works

Have you ever wondered what you are here on earth to do?

Well, God has an idea about that!

And you can leave behind that image of God giving us work we hate to do.

No, the works we’re talking about are more like an artist doing their “thing”.

Yes, work is to be done that isn’t easy, fun or adrenaline inducing, but the overall story of your life is designed for calling and gifting to intersect to create good works. Calling + Gifts = Good works.

When we tune into God we can be led into the good works prepared in advance to do. We’re made for a preordained work, we’re called to serve a people and we’re compelled to express our gifts. God has in mind problems for us to solve in relationships, communities and in every segment of society and creation.

Often these people and place are right under a nose. Grace is everywhere!

So, shall we tune into God’s voice?

Pause, quiet yourself and go for your most instinctive answer to the questions. Follow up any insights with a friend who is willing to probe some more and help you understand what God might be saying.

What good work makes you feel alive?

What good work gets a positive response from people?

Who do you love to serve and be around?

What do you want to improve?

If you could make one change to your community what would it be?

What character in the bible or story connects with your desire to do good works?
